How to Use the Dubai Metro Fare Checker

Our user-friendly fare calculator tool allows you to calculate the exact fare for your journey on the Dubai Metro. Here’s how you can use it:

  1. Select Your Starting Station: Choose the station you are starting from using the dropdown menu.
  2. Select Your Destination Station: Pick your destination station from the options.
  3. Choose Your NOL Card Type: Select whether you are using a Silver or Gold NOL card.
  4. Check Your Fare: Click the “Check Fare” button, and your trip cost will appear below.

Obvious Edge Cases – While using this tool, remember that it is built by accounting for zones only, and nothing else. Consequently, certain short-distance trips may show incorrect fares. For example, a journey from BurJuman to Al Rigga (and also Union) will cost 3 AED because it is within 3 km, yet this tool might display 5 AED, which is incorrect. Therefore, keep in mind that any travel within 3 km should cost only 3 AED.

Understanding the Dubai Metro Fare Structure

Dubai Metro offers two classes of travel:

  1. Gold Class: Premium seating with larger, more comfortable seats and a quieter environment. Travel costs here are double the Silver Class fare.
  2. Silver Class: Standard seating that is comfortable, offering great value for money.

While technically it’s not a class, there is also Senior Citizen/Student Nol Card which are exclusive to students and senior citizens (you will be fined if your caught travelling with it) cost half the price of regular silver class.

In addition, the Dubai Metro fare is calculated based on zones. There are 7 zones across the Dubai Metro network (However there’s only 4 prominent zones at the moment). Therefore, the cost of your journey depends on the number of zones you cross and the type of NOL card you use.

Here’s a breakdown of the fare structure:

ZonesSilver Card Fare (AED)Gold Card Fare (AED)
Within 1 Zone3.06.0
Crossing 2 Zones5.010.0
Crossing 3+ Zones7.515.0

For example:

  • A trip from Burjuman to Sobha Realty costs AED 5 with a Silver card.
  • A trip from Mall of the Emirates to Union costs AED 7.5 crossing three zones.
