This privacy policy explains what information is collected when you visit oranjuriel.com (the “site”), why it is collected, and what choices you have. The site is a personal blog run by Oran Juriel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I’m the person responsible for your data.
The short version
- You can read everything on this site without creating an account or giving me your name or email.
- I use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site (which pages are read, where people click and scroll). It uses cookies and may record anonymised sessions.
- The site is delivered through Cloudflare and BunnyCDN and protected by Wordfence, which process your IP address for delivery and security.
- I don’t sell your data, and I don’t run ads.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the server and the services below receive technical information whenever you load a page: your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, the pages you request and the time of your visit. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems.
Microsoft Clarity (analytics)
I partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with this website through behavioural metrics, heatmaps and session replay, to improve the site’s content and usability. Website usage data is captured using first- and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine the popularity of content and online activity. Microsoft may also use this information for site optimisation, fraud and security purposes, and advertising. Clarity masks text you type into forms. For more information about how Microsoft collects and uses your data, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Cloudflare (network and security)
All traffic passes through Cloudflare, which protects the site from attacks and speeds up delivery. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request data and may set strictly necessary security cookies (such as __cf_bm). See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
BunnyCDN (images and files)
Images, stylesheets and scripts are served from BunnyCDN (oranjuriel.b-cdn.net), which receives your IP address and request details in order to deliver those files. See the bunny.net Privacy Policy.
Wordfence (site security)
The Wordfence security plugin logs IP addresses and request details to block malicious traffic and brute-force attacks. Some of this information may be shared with Defiant, Inc. (the maker of Wordfence) to identify threats. See the Wordfence Privacy Policy.
Comments
If you leave a comment, the name, email address and website you enter are stored along with your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. Your email address is never published. Comments are held for moderation before they appear. An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to show your profile picture. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy.
Cookies
- Comment cookies: if you leave a comment and tick the box, your name, email and website are saved in your browser for one year so you don’t have to re-enter them.
- Analytics cookies (Microsoft Clarity): for example
_clck(up to 1 year) and_clsk(1 day), plus Microsoft cookies such asMUID. - Security cookies (Cloudflare): strictly necessary for protecting the site.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work. Blocking Clarity’s cookies (or using a content blocker) stops analytics without affecting your reading.
Embedded content and external links
Articles link to third-party websites (for example the RTA, bank and BNPL providers, and archive.org). Those sites have their own privacy policies, and I’m not responsible for their content or practices.
How long data is kept
Comments and their metadata are kept until the comment is deleted. Security and server logs are kept for a limited period, normally no longer than 90 days. Analytics data is kept according to Microsoft Clarity’s retention period.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, and the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access the personal data I hold about you, correct it, ask for it to be deleted, object to or restrict its processing, and receive a copy of it. To make a request, email me at the address below. I’ll respond within 30 days.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 16, and I don’t knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes to this policy
If the way this site handles data changes, for example if I add new tools, newsletters or affiliate links, I’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
